Amelia Mundell
Amelia Mundell is a sophomore at Sehome High School and has been studying cello with Coral Marchant since the sixth grade. She has played with the North Sound Youth Symphony for three years. She currently is playing with the Sehome Advanced Orchestra as well. Her other musical experiences have included participation in the WMEA Solo and Ensemble competition for four years, and one year each at the Central Cello Convention and Marrowstone Music Festival. In addition, she is in her tenth year of piano lessons, under Caryn Simmons.
The most rewarding part of music for Amelia is the sense of community that is fostered through playing and spending time with other musicians. She is very thankful for the music educators and peers she has encountered who have shaped her experiences with the cello. Amelia especially loves the cello because of how diverse and challenging it is as an instrument. Playing music is for her very much like interacting with other people because it is a conversation between yourself and the instrument. She hopes to continue playing for the rest of her life.
Most importantly, Amelia would like to thank her teachers, especially Coral Marchant, as well as her friends and family for their continual support and encouragement as she works to grow as a musician.
